Christian Rainey has made his life’s mission stopping the cycle of domestic violence since his mother and four siblings were killed by his mom’s husband. Rainey is a captain with the North Charleston Fire Department. He is also the founder and CEO of Men Against Domestic Violence. Five years after his first Stop the Violence rally, Rainey’s reach is extensive. He talks with middle and high school students about the dangers of teen dating violence. He recently stepped outside his comfort zone and shared his story at a Charleston Ted Talk, his mother close by. Recently, Rainey held his first domestic violence conference. It brought together not just victims and victim advocates, but experts in the medical and counseling fields.
Christan Rainey was selected as a 2019 National Jefferson Award recipient of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Awards for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.
